SRNA, 14.08.2017, Strbac: Zagreb spies on Serbs on Facebook

BELGRADE, September 14 /SRNA/ – Director of the Veritas Documentation and Information Centre, Savo Strbac, told SRNA that Croatia watches the profiles and spies on young Serbs on social networks in order to condemn, blame and prevent them from returning for good to their centuries-old homes on the basis of alleged improper content.

Strbac hads said that a Serb, Mladen Losic /aged 46/ from Ocestovo near Knin, was sentenced to 16 days in prison in Sibenik because he posted a photo on his Facebook profile of him with a group of people holding the Ravna Gora Movement flag and the photographs of the Chetnik Duke priest Momcillo Djujic and Serbian basketball player Miroslav Raduljica wearing a fur cap with kokarda badge.

According to him, it is terrifying that Losic, who was convicted for breaching public order and peace, as well as many other Serbs who had addressed “Veritas” for the same problem, were tracked from the Zagreb Headquarters.

“He is not the only one,” he has said. “The headquarters in Zagreb was watching him.” He was first being kept for an hour at the border while entering Croatia from Serbia where he now lives, and a day after his arrival, policemen from Sibenik came with the “controversial” photographs, which they received from Zagreb. It is terrifying that every Serb, regardless of age, is being watched. Even those who did not participate in the war are being watched…”, said Strbac.

He has pointed out that the verdict stated where the Prosecutor’s Office in Sibenik received photographs from and that the judge stated in the reasoning of the verdict that “the fact that the prosecutor is agitated by the photographs indicates that the Croatian public is disturbed and shocked by the photographs, too”.

“Those unfamiliar with ongoing events in Croatia could have drawn the conclusion based on this judgment that Croatian society is rigorously fighting all attempts to relativize and revitalize some of the totalitarian regimes and systems of past times, especially the Second World War, but the people familiar with what is going on know that this is not so,” said Strbac.

He has pointed out that it is exactly the opposite, and that the rehabilitation of Ustasha Movement is again escalating in Croatia, which has been fighting the “Facebook terrorism” for last few years.

“A memorial plaque dedicated to HOS members with Ustasha greeting “For Homeland-Ready” was installed in Jasenovac for nearly a year. “The same greeting followed by Ustasha iconography is regularly heard in sports fields, concerts, celebrations,” Strbac reminded.

He has emphasized that documentary films that falsify history are being made, the war criminals from the time of the NDH are being rehabilitated, the monuments to ambassador’s assassins are being erected, Serb newspapers are being burned in the middle of Zagreb, and social networks have been flooded with photographs of Ante Pavelic and other war criminals.

“Has anyone been arrested or held responsible for it? Even if it has, as far as I know, no one has been sentenced to a prison. It seems to me that the Croatian authorities have found an effective way through the Losic case to prevent young Serbs from returning to their centuries-old homes, said Strbac.

He has recalled that due to all the circumstances, the silent exodus of the Serbs continues and that the rate of return to Croatia is only one return to five emigrants from Croatia to Serbia on annual basis.

“There were 186,000 Serbs or 4,36% of the total population in the 2011 population census. The prognosis are that the projections of the Tudjman establishment from 1991 will be realized in the next 2021 population census, which is that “the Serb issue will be resolved for all times when Serbs are no more than three percent of the total population,” said Strbac.
